Mamma Mia

Thank You for the Music

Mamma Mia is about Sophie Sheridan and the day before her wedding day. She discovers her mom’s journal, only to find out she has three dads and invites them all to decide which one will walk her down the aisle. Donna, her mother, founds out when they arrive on the island of Kalokairi by going through a full-blown mental breakdown and catching up with her long-lost best friends, Tanya and Rosie. We get taken on a journey of Sophia getting to know the men that are her dads and Donna rekindling her romances.

Dancing Queen

Mamma Mia is truly a favorite musical of mine because it tells the story of a mother and daughter with the music ABBA. My favorite song is “Dancing Queen” because after having a mental breakdown about her former lovers, her best friends help her get back up in the musical number. The song is important because tells you that do not have to change for anyone and how you can be the person you once were.

The Winner Takes It All

Mamma Mia is written by Catherine Johnson with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. The production is a jukebox musical and is based on the songs of ABBA. The original Broadway production opened in 2001 starring Louise Pitre in the role of Donna Sheridan, although the production was nominated for five Tony Awards, it became a popular musical. The production later got adapted into a film in 2008 starring Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried.
