Naughty

Matilda tells the imaginative story of a bright little girl who gets extraordinary powers by finding refuge in library books and creating her own stories.  As growing up, Matilda is faced with many obstacles, like at home with her abusive parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood, and gormlessly brother, Michael Wormwood, and at school with the outrageous and wicked headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. While being at school, she finds companionship with her teacher, Miss Honey, and discovers she is remarkable by standing up against adults and telling her classmates that life can be hard, but nobody is going to change your story, so sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty.”

When I Grow Up

Matilda is strongly important to me because I was in New York City for a spring break trip with my high school theatre department. I actually got to see the original Broadway production at the Shubert Theatre, but even though most of the original cast had left, I got to experience the production like never before. Before going on the trip, it was one of the shows I was truly excited to experience, and I will never get it out of my brain because the production gave me a reason to love the world of Broadway theatre.

Revolting Children

Matilda will always be a show that I could watch repeatedly because the show has a very special place in my heart, and it was emotional for me. When experiencing the production, it made me feel like a little boy and I was watching my childhood from the beginning. After seeing the production, it was the show that made me fully love theatre the way I do now.
